Gillian Conahan grew up in Portland and lives in Brooklyn with a well-fed fabric stash. A writer, editor, and sewing nerd; devotee of speculative fiction and needlework in roughly equal measure, she spends most of her time making things or thinking about making things. She still kind of wants to be Cayce Pollard when she grows up.
Her first book, a sewing guide for cosplayers called The Hero’s Closet, is now out from Abrams. Currently a professional costumer, she was the editor of Vogue Patterns magazine for two years, and has written nonfiction and fiction for magazines including Discover and Apex. She has a master’s degree in science writing and an SB in “humanities and science” (creative writing and physics), both from MIT.
